The Space Shuttle Discovery docked with the International Space Station via Google Earth

This has got to be one of the coolest pictures ever - especially now that NASA has announced another indefinite halt to the shuttle program.

This is a snapshot of a Google Earth/Keyhole Network Link that updates every 5min the location, altitude, and flight path of the Space Shuttle Discovery and the International Space Station.

Tracking Space Shuttle Discovery and ISS on Google Earth

Ogle Earth wrote great KML to track Space Shuttle Discovery and ISS on Google Earth, by a Network Link to scrape cordinates from NASA website.
It shows actual altitude of the orbiters in good shape.

KML is available in this blog entry.

As STS-114 made orbit adjustment to get closer to ISS for docking, but that adjustment is not refrected to Celestrak data on time...
Remember, the Space Track data files are only updated twice each day.

Reunion of Astronauts in the space

The crews of STS 114 and ISS get together - they followed an old Navy tradition of ringing a bell to announce the arrival or departure of someone to a ship.

Space Shuttle returned to ISS first time since Nov. 25th, 2002.
