Created by Stan Lee and Don Heck, he first appeared as a villain in “Tales Of Suspense Vol. 1 #57” (September 1964). Later on he was changed into a hero and joined the ranks of the Avengers in May, 1965, being one of the most regular characters of the team until today. Curious fact: In 2012, the mother of 4-year-old Anthony Smith contacted Marvel because her son wouldn’t wear his hearing aid, as superheroes don’t have to. Marvel responded with a custom comic book of the superhero Blue Ear for little Anthony, and also pointed out that Hawkeye is deaf and uses hearing aids.
