By @superheroweekly “The Mighty Thor was created by Stan Lee with the assistance of his brother Larry and also Jack Kirby. Following the creation of Hulk, Stan Lee was in the predicament of creating a character stronger than the strongest person. So he decided not make him human, but a god. Looking over the old Norse legends, he was fascinated by the tales of fierce warriors with flowing beards, shiny helmets and heavy weapons, so he picked Thor, the God Of Thunder and gave him life into comics. The first appereance of Thor was in “Journey Into Mystery #83” on August, 1962. One year later, Lee and Kirby included Thor in The Avengers as a founding member of the superhero team.
