aelie-baby: This sounds like pretty much every revolution there has ever been in the history of ever. “It seemed like a good idea at the time,” is how it usually starts. “We have no choice but to kill,” is also heard a lot. And 99.99% of the time, it results in people becoming inured to the killing, and thus continuing it. Note that Ventei and Noventa are both up there in years: they’ve been doing this a long time, and they’ve finally seen that their use of violence years ago has changed the Alliance into something it shouldn’t have become. All they can really do is try and turn the ship of state before it founders on the reef. But they’re going up against an entire military industrial complex with presumably billions of dollars in power. Every one of the men in this room (and women? I don’t see any beyond Une) has benefited from this style of governership, and I sincerely doubt they’re going to be totally ok with reducing their income by millions just to ease two old men’s souls.
