Just that — so far anyway — PGSM Usagi reads incredibly het to me, and I get none of the chemistry at all between PGSM Ami and PGSM Mako. Just my read, of course, take that for the utterly worthless crap it is. Yeah no I get that. She does read as more het in pgsm than she does in any of the other continuities. But she’s still Usagi, and pansexual!Usagi is so firmly entrenched in my headcanon that I can’t let go of it. But even if Usagi is het in pgsm, Ami can still totally be in love with her. And Makoto. Because if there’s anything pgsm does really well, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, it’s to show how much all of the inners are completely in love with Usagi. i mean they’re also in love with each other, but what else is new? My Usagi is totally pan as well, no question. But it’s part of my effort to take each version of the story and its characters as its own thing and look at what it’s doing rather than apply too much of my image or expectations on them, you know? And I’m really young in the series yet of course. I mean Minako hasn’t even joined yet. So we’ll see how it goes. As it stands right now, for me personally, I just see this doomed to misery for PGSM Ami. She’s got such a possessive streak in her because she’s so fucking insecure. It’s clear that SHE is 1000% devoted to Usagi, and I don’t think — right now anyway — that she’s going to be able to understand that Usagi doesn’t work that way. That Usagi can love Ami 1000% AND Rei 1000% AND Mako 1000% AND Minako 1000% AND Mamoru 1000% AND Naru 1000% and and and. With the other Senshi, I don’t think Ami would have too much of a problem “sharing”, because they’re all part of her too (and their needs are very different as well). But anyone outside? Naru, as I already speculated, and Mamoru too, I think. How I’m seeing her and speculating on Ami right now (and I could be way the fuck off base), I don’t think she’s going to be satisfied unless she is as much Usagi’s everything as Usagi is to Ami. And Usagi just doesn’t work that way, she can’t. Her love isn’t a finite resource like it is for the rest of us. So that’s more what I mean. Ami can totally be in love with Usagi and Mako and everyone, of course. But right now, functionally, she ONLY loves Usagi, and I only see massive amounts of pain ahead for her because she has absolutely no idea right now what that actually should mean.
