keyofnik: Thus begins the major conflict that Rei and Usagi are going to have in this episode. I’ll talk about what’s happening here throughout, because it’s so, so critical to understanding Rei. Not just in this episode but as a whole. Rei really has a FUCKTON of shit happening here, and nobody is taking this seriously. Rei is going to blow up at Usagi in a minute like she never has before, and here’s where it’s starting. Rei has expressed deep concern about her grandfather. REI is opening up to the others about her worries, about her family troubles, and she’s doing it NOW, at this early stage of their relationships. She’s only been a Senshi for twenty episodes, so for MAYBE two months, maybe less. Deeply private Rei is so worried about what’s going on, she’s volunteering information to the others about her personal business. And what does Usagi do the second she sees Grandpa? She giggles and laughs and says he looks cute. Her first direct reaction to this situation, her FIRST WORDS. Take notes. We’ll come back to this.
