shitloadsofwrestling: WCW Cruiserweight Champion Chris Jericho [1997] It always kind of bugs me when a wrestler wins a championship in a match that’s untelevised, but when Chris Jericho showed up on Nitro with the WCW Cruiserweight Championship, I wasn’t fussed. Jericho defeated Syxx for the title in an online webcast called “Saturday Nitro”, which, in 1997, I can’t imagine many people were watching and were happy with due to the nature of dial-up internet. He then lost the title exactly one month later to Alex Wright (who I’ve never, ever been a fan of) before defeated Wright to regain the gold 2 weeks later. Jericho still couldn’t procure a long reign as only a month and two days later, he’d lose the title to Eddie Guerrero.
