wcwworldwide: [This Day in WCW History] NWA/WCW Starrcade ‘88: True Gritt Advert [December 26th, 1988] One of the earliest NWA/WCW VHS tapes I’ve ever seen, and one of the greatest Starrcades ever produced. In fact, I’m pretty sure the main reason I loved this show as a child was due to the large amount of wrestlers included who were also playable characters in the WCW Wrestling game for the NES, the thing that actually introduced me to World Championship Wrestling. Haven’t watched in years, but I’d bet that it still holds up well though especially. The Starrcade ‘88: True Gritt card in its entirety: NWA United Tag Team Champions The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers) vs Kevin Sullivan and Steve Williams Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane) (with Jim Cornette) vs The Original Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey and Randy Rose) (with Paul E. Dangerously) The Russian Assassins (#1 and #2) (with Paul Jones) vs The Junkyard Dog and Ivan Koloff NWA World Television Champion Mike Rotunda (with Kevin Sullivan) vs Rick Steiner NWA United States Champion Barry Windham (with James J. Dillon) vs Bam Bam Bigelow (with Oliver Humperdink) NWA World Tag Team Champions The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) (with Paul Ellering) vs Sting and Dusty Rhodes NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair (with James J. Dillon) vs Lex Luger
