This Cruiserweight brand of wrestling that WCW was pushing at the time was still relatively new to the American audience but the fans in attendance were not only treated to this great match-up, but the WCW Starrcade opener had the Ultimate Dragon facing Dean Malenko in a match to unify the J-Crown Championship and the WCW Cruiserweight Championship. It’s a shame that the main event had Hollywood Hogan facing Roddy Piper, but this would be the norm for WCW at this time. Piss-poor action in the main event, the entire show stolen by the younger, hungrier talent.
